Ever thought about capturing your family adventures on video, not just in photos? I’ve decided to start my own family YouTube channel right here in Noosa, and I’ll be sharing all my tips, discoveries, and reflections as I go. It’s a fun way to preserve memories—the giggles, the messy sandcastles at Noosa Main Beach, the sunsets at Noosa National Park—and I want to take you along on the journey with me.

Why Noosa is Perfect for Family Videos

Let’s be honest—Noosa is stunning. Beaches, parks, trails, and sunshine almost every day. Whether your kids are building sandcastles, exploring the bush, or just running around, it makes a gorgeous backdrop for your videos. I’m excited to explore these spots and learn how to capture them beautifully on camera.

Keep It Simple with Gear You Have

You don’t need fancy equipment to start:

  • Your phone is perfect.

  • A tripod or gimbal helps with steady shots.

  • A small microphone makes a big difference if you’re talking to the camera.

That’s it. I’ll be testing all of this as I go and sharing what works (and what doesn’t!).

Filming Kids Without the Stress

Filming children can feel tricky. Here’s what I’m learning:

  • Let them play naturally. The candid moments are the best.

  • Keep filming sessions short—kids have short attention spans!

  • Use natural light. Morning or late afternoon (golden hour) looks amazing.

Editing Doesn’t Have to Be Hard

You don’t need to be a tech wizard. I’m learning along the way and will share the tools I love:

  • CapCut – free and beginner-friendly.

  • iMovie – great for Mac users.

  • InShot – edit straight from your phone.

Add a little music, captions, and you’re done.

Privacy Matters

A few things I’m keeping in mind for safety:

  • Use private or unlisted YouTube settings.

  • Avoid showing exact locations.

  • Share with family and friends first before posting publicly.

Why Videos and Photos Work So Well Together

Videos capture the movement, sounds, and laughter. Photos freeze the perfect moments in time. Together, they tell a much richer story of your family life—something I’m learning as I start this journey myself.

In wrapping up... Starting a family YouTube channel in Noosa is exciting, a little scary, but so worth it. I’ll be sharing tips, reflections, and what I’m learning as I go, and I’d love for you to join me!

My first clip! I had a lot of fun filming and editing- even if I did feel a little bit crazy talking to myself!
